For mixing, on Windows, try NCH MixPad. Its free, but the full version is $ 30-$ 60. Anything else about mastering the art, except for converting sound files, I can’t help you with.

Ableton Live is a very user friendly program which enables you not only to write and record tracks, but also a means for playing live as well. If you can use your synth as a midi controller, then you will be all set. I’d highly recommend grabbing some Native Instruments plugins (Komplete 7, etc.) if you are writing electronic tracks – NI Massive is one of the best synth programs ever created.
Reason is also popular for writing and recording music, and is a pretty good all-in-one package.
Both have demo versions you can download and see what works best for you.
I used Pro Tools for several years, and it worked great since I was recording lots of external gear (drums, mics, guitars, etc.). I know that Pro Tools 9 is more of a complete software solution (like Live), but I can’t vouch for it since I’m just using Ableton at the moment.
If you want well mastered tracks it’s probably a good idea to use the services of a qualified mastering engineer…
