What is a reliable codec software to use on windows media player 10?

Question by Seishiro: What is a reliable codec software to use on windows media player 10?
I have the Combined Community Codec Pack, but it kind sucks when I play videos in high quality. Any suggestions on software I get the codec that is safe and reliable to use for high-quality videos?

If you’re seeing the video and its quality sucks, it aint a friggin codec problem. Explain your problem with viewing high quality videos rather than to bluff your way into thinking you’re a technician.

I understand your desire to run the media player, but I nevertheless suggest, contrary to your question here, to avoid codec packs altogether. They have a tendency to break media playback on some level. Try out the VLC media player instead. It’s high quality open source software and it come with its own codecs that play virtually anything. That is the most common approach to Hi Def media playback (aka H264).

The codec has nothing to do with how high the quality is. The original encoding of the videos dictates how much quality, (think bitrate and dimensions/ sound bitrate), is visible. Codecs simply decode (encode as well) the encodings to give you the video and audio.
