The premiere software for video editing is Adobe Premiere. You can get it from Adobe’s website, either standalone or as part of the Creative Suite package.
Rumor has it that Creative Suite 5 is just around the corner. If you can wait a little, I’d recommend doing so and getting that when it comes out. Otherwise, get Creative Suite 4 or the standalone Premiere CS4.
The best ones for editing (and it depends on your experience level) are Avid, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Vegas Pro. Of course, if you never edited, it’ll take you a few months to learn them. They can run from $ 600 and up. If you have no editing experience, you may want to go with the scaled down versions like Premiere Elements, or Vegas, Pinnacle Studio, etc. They are cheaper but are limited. Avoid Movie Maker. If you want quality, controls, the ability to add professional effects, etc. spend the money and time learning a quality app like one of the above. There’s no short-cut to a good final product.
I recommend, Sony Vegas Pro 9. Ive been using it for a while now and it has some great effects and is quite easy to use. As for the price, its ~500, but then again there are always torrents
movie maker for windows users and iMovie for Mac users.
if you need some special effects like simple gauss blur effect, simple laplacian sharpen, gray, flip color, invert, aged film ,background music on your video clips,i recommand Brorsoft video converter.
